(2008) It was fun to see the old class. I worked as an RN at the forks hospital,
27 plus years. Phillip and I have been married since 1970. We had two daughters, Ginger and Nicki,
and have two grandchildren, Meagan age 3 and Jerry, age 8 months.
Life is busy and very fulfilling. My husband ruptured discs in his back in 2004 , so is retired. I got fed up with nursing, so retired April of 2007, to allow time to keep track of Phil and two cats and two grandkids that we babysit 2 days a week. We square dance and ride motorcycles, and life is good and busy enough. Still live in forks, can't afford to move, the way prices have dumped. Oh well, it could be worse. |

(2006) It was really great seeing so many old friends again.
Sharon and I have been married nearly 38 years, now, and have two daughters.
The oldest is a college professor and research scientist located in St. Louis, and the youngest is married to a Navy officer and pilot.
They have three children and are currently stationed in Hawaii. We have both been retired from Boeing for a year and a half. Sharon was in engineering, and I was managing some of Boeing’s internal computing systems. We live just outside of Auburn on a few acres and have been raising, breeding and showing horses. We have found the horse business restricts our new retirement lifestyle (traveling and cars). We are looking to downsize and relocate, but have not decided just where. (2006) I have my own business and do medical transcription out of my home.
John and Emily spent one year in Papua New Guinea working as support personnel with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Then we built our own home in two different places near Monroe, first on Hand Road, and then on Van Brocklin Road.
In 1999, we moved to Colville to be out of debt and enjoy a slower pace of life. Our two boys are married; one lives next door to us and the other lives in Sultan. We have three grandchildren. We will celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary this year. My hobbies include quilting, reading, and crafts and John's hobbies are gardening, orcharding, restoring old machinery, and both of us enjoy studying the scriptures in the original languages (Hebrew and Greek). |

(2006) Sorry to miss the 40th class reunion. Bob and I bought land north of Tonasket April 2004. We are busy clearing 15 acres of down apple trees (Reds and Golden's no market for them, sad!) We are living in a 37 ft trailer till late October. Then back to our previous home in Nevada. We are planning to sell our home and rental there by mid to late winter and move to Tonasket for good. Its hard being snow birds these past 10 years. Time to settle down. We bought a double wide recently and are clearing the site for it now. Plus getting in a well, power, septic and basement put in. We hope to move in the last of August. Wishful thinking probably. Sorry to hear about Ken Simon, Far too young. I hope to see you all July of 2016 by then bob and I should be not so busy at 69 and 78. Say hello to everyone for me. Also, Bob and I celebrated our 40th anniversary June 18th. Planning to go on a cruise this fall or winter. Maybe Hawaii for 15 days.

(2006) I work at the Sheriff's office for now. May soon go into business with my daughter-in-law (selling insurance). I have 2 sons with wonderful wife's, both sons in real estate and doing very well. I have 6 fabulous grandchildren and 2 wonderful step-daughters. This last year has been rough with the loss of both his and my parents within 6 months. Makes you realize what is truly important.

(2006) Ruth and I still live in Huron, SD. We have four grown kids all of whom live nearby.
Two of them live with us, Nathan and Angela and Angie's three children, Zachari (9), Lexi (7) and Xander (2). Our other two are David (Sioux Falls) and Daniel (Rapid City). David has two children Robert (16) and Kyleen (13) and they live in Huron with their Mom. I get a VA pension because of my injuries in Vietnam. I've been to Washington DC to visit Chuck and Bill at the Memorial Wall. I spend my time caring for the grandkids, fishing, camping and waiting for the long northern winters to end so I can go fishing and camping again. My sister Kathy (class of 1964) and my brother Truman live in Los Angeles. My mother Virginia lives in Huron, at a nursing home, she is 83. My Dad Kenneth, passed away here in Huron in 1991. I miss my friends Vic Jelinek and Kim Johnson and all of my old friends that are still around so if anyone wants to write or email, go for it. I wouldn't mind a video if one becomes available so let me know about that. |

(2006) During the last 30 years I have lived, in El Paso, TX, Houston, TX, Denver, CO and Snohomish from 1989 until 2005.
I currently live in Redmond, Washington. I have been flying for Continental Airlines for almost 30 years. I have been a Captain for 22 of the 30 years and I am presently flying as Boeing 777 Captain based in Newark, N.J., flying mostly international routes; ....... yes, I commute to work.
After 26 years of marriage, I am now divorced but I must say, ...... I saved a lot of money on my car insurance. My oldest daughter, Danielle, will finish her education in paramedic medicine this coming June. Katherine graduated from Seattle University last year. She spent one year attending the Universidad de Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. Kat is now fluent in Spanish. Like her father, Kat is now "bilateral". My dad lives in Tampa, FL where he writes for the local Spanish newspapers and drives everyone insane. He is now 89 and intent to outlive us all. For fun I still own two antique airplanes and I hangar them at Harvey Field. I fly them for no reason whatsoever or as often as I can. On sunny days, I love to take the old sports car out and try not to get bugs on my teeth. I am looking forward to retirement and my new career; ..... being a professional cabana boy. Writing your father's obituary is something that nobody ever really wants to do but, if I must, I want to be sure anyone that chances to read it has the opportunity to know this remarkable man through the eyes of his family. Ron was a person who would never accept anything less than your very best, always encouraging and inspiring you to achieve beyond what you thought was possible. He was so generous to so many people, touching the hearts of those who were open to his ever present sense of humor, direct honesty, and realist approach to life. Not too many people know the long list of accomplishments in his life so we will share a few. He was born at Hamilton Air Force Base, CA. Graduated from Monroe HS in 1966. He served in the Navy from 1965 - 1969 as an anti-submarine warfare aircrew man aboard the USS Hornet while in Vietnam. He married his wife Kay in August of 1970 followed later by the births of his two children. He worked as a sheriff's deputy and detective in San Diego County from 1971 - 1978 and retired from the WA State Department of Corrections as a Lieutenant in 2004 after 21 years of service. In 2002 he achieved his certification as a graduate gemologist from the Gemologist Institute of America. Although the highlights of Ron's resume are notable and diverse, it is definitely not what defined him. When asked what we would want others to know about our dad/husband, each of us had the same reply, "He loved and lived for his family". Ron was a very passionate person in many ways. He was an outdoor enthusiast; our family always spent quality time camping, fishing, hunting, boating, riding horses, and exploring the places on earth with the fewest people and the best views of the stars. Ron also enjoyed restoring cars in between his hobbies and more recently he added a Harley Davidson motorcycle to the family. He would say the best time on his bike was 75-75; driving 75 mph in 75 degree weather. The only thing that could make that ride better was having his son Scott as his road companion on his Harley. In 2003, Ron was struggling to physically recover from complications of multiple knee surgeries, when he was first diagnosed with cancer. The way he chose to battle his cancer illustrates perfectly the person he was throughout life. But, you can't read about that in a resume. Despite horrific cancer treatments, Ron lived more life in the past five years than most of us do in a lifetime. He was courageous, resilient, compassion for those he loved, and continually making everyone around him laugh. He approached life's most difficult times with humor, strength, and perseverance. He had a "never give up until it is over" attitude and was known for doing everything on his terms. He had this crazy theory that if he was going to leave this earth, he was going to use every last ounce of his physical body, which is exactly what he did. He spent his last few days at elk camp with his family enjoying the outdoors and doing what he loved. His wife of 38 years, Kay Hill; daughter, Renee K. Dunham; son, Scott P. Hill; beloved dog, Tish; and many relatives will carry on with out him physically but, he will always be in our hearts. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched. For those that know the Hill Family best, don't light a candle in his memory; please build a campfire with plenty of wood and have a drink to toast the wonderful gift Ron was to all of our lives. A memorial service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 1, at Monroe Baptist Church, 1405 W. Main Street, Monroe, WA. A celebration of his life was at the family home the next summer during the camping season. |

(2002) Kim passed away February 21 2002 in a Seattle hospital. He was born in Everett on December 11 1947 to Oreta and Alve Johnson. He was raised and lived in Monroe most of his life. He attended schools in Burlington and Mount Vernon and high school in Monroe. Kim loved life and people, and made friends wherever he went. One of his favorite quotes was "There are no strangers, just friends we have yet to meet". He met many of his friends around the world through the CB radio and through e-mail. Kim was also an avid fisherman and hunter and a very talented musician, who entertained the family and friends with his beautiful accordion music. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his genuine kindness and sensitivity to other people and their needs. Kim leaves his wife of 29 years Debbie, sons Stephen (Kris), Michael (Shelly) and Christopher, daughter, Nikki, Grandchildren Joshua, Nicholas, Stephanie, and Stephen. Mother Oreta, his identical twin Thomas "Kip", other brothers Denny (Socorro), Dana (Delia), Derrel (Lynn), and Lance, sisters Eadye (Bob) Martinson, and Jaynee (Jim) Johnson-Woodward, and numerous special nieces and nephews and sisters in law and brothers in law. Kim was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy in 1984, and father, Alve in 2000. |

(2006) I graduated from U. of Washington 1970, and then moved to New York City to
attend graduate school. Lived in Manhattan for 8 years, part of the time with Gayle Countryman as my roommate.
Moved back to Seattle in 1978, got hired on at Pacific Northwest Bell for "3 months," and am still there 27 years later
(PNB became US West, which became Qwest.) I married Ted, a New Yorker, in 1979 and had one son, David. Divorced, and married Nick in 1993. Nick is a retired charter-boat captain/musician. I have a grandson born in June, 2005 in Alaska, where my son and daughter-in-law live. I enjoy salmon fishing, gardening, reading, and playing with my grandson. |

Roy "Butch" J. Norling, 59, of Gold Bar, WA, died on June 20, 2008. He was born in Everett, WA in 1948.
Roy Graduated from Monroe High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army and was on active duty 1966 to 1969. He was honorably discharged in 1972, and received two Purple Hearts, and Two Air Metals.
Roy loved spending time with his granddaughters, hunting, fishing, and motorsports.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Norling.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandi Neisinger; three granddaughters, Michelle, Brittaney, and Haley; his wife, Deborah Norling; his mother, Phyllis Norling; sister, Susan Schaenherr; and brother, Duane Norling.
Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life from 2 - 4 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008, at the Best Western Hotel, Atlantis Room in Monroe, WA.

(2006) After graduation I moved to Houston, Texas to attend Houston Baptist University. In 1968 I opted for a Mrs. Degree and married Gary Kelley. In 1979 after 10 years and 2 children I divorced and remained in Houston until 1997 when I moved to Anacortes, Washington. I lived and worked in Anacortes until 2005 at which time I returned to Texas for a short time and now live with my daughter in Baltimore, MD.
My daughter Nikole is in the Navy and stationed aboard the USNS Comfort here in Baltimore and my son, Michael, is employed with AAFES and is at Ft. Huachuca at Sierra Vista, Arizona.
Mom and Dad are alive and well in Tenaha, Texas and my brothers, Larry and Mike are both residing in Houston.
That about sums up the past 40 years!

Alan Lee Reiner, age 56, of Monroe, died Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at Veteran's Hospital in Seattle after a courageous battle with cancer.
He graduated from Monroe High School in 1965, served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Alan had been involved with youth football over the years and had an avid interest in sports and outdoor activities. Most recently Alan could be seen on a sunny day riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Alan is survived by his mother, Doris Reiner of Monroe; his sister, Jaci Smith and her husband Dick of Orting; his brother, Dale Reiner and wife, Charlene of Monroe; his son, Joshua Reiner and wife Sunee of Cleveland, OH; daughter, Tami DeLong and husband Dave of Mukilteo; son, Travis Reiner of Everett; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Reiner. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, October 21, 2004 at 2:00 PM, at the Monroe Methodist Church, 342 South Lewis Street, Monroe, WA 98272. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Monroe Historical Society. |

Ken Simon |

Kenneth M. Simon of Snohomish died suddenly of natural causes July 12, 2003. He was born December 11, 1947 in Everett to Warren and Jeanne Simon.
Ken grew up in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1966. He attended Washington State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1970. Following college, Ken served as an officer in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a Captain in the Army Reserves.
Ken was a pilot both in heart and profession making a career out of his boyhood dream. Ken was an asset to the aviation community as a flight instructor, flight examiner, airline pilot, and finally as an FAA Aviation Safety Inspector. While a flight instructor, Ken's limitless patience and natural gift for teaching helped him to instruct countless people, including his own father and son, in the art and craft of flying. Ken is remembered as a faithful and hard-working co-worker and employee by many. Ken enjoyed reading, running marathons, flying, skiing, backpacking along the coast, Scottish history, and vacationing to Hawaii.
Ken was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Jennifer, of 33 years. Ken was fortunate in having spent those years married to his best friend. Ken was a wonderful father who left no doubt about his love and dedication to his children. Throughout his life, Ken was surrounded by loving family and friends. His family was always his priority and Ken enjoyed spending time with them above all else.
Ken is survived by his wife Jennifer A. Simon, children Mark W. Simon and Monique A. Simon, parents Warren and Jeanne Simon, sister Barbara Simon and Susan Greder, and many nieces and nephews. A wonderful man to many, Ken will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances or donations be made to Childrens Hospital of Seattle. A graveside service at GAR Cemetery in Snohomish will be held on Saturday, July 19th, 2003 at 1:00 pm. A memorial service at the First Congregational Church, 301 S. Lewis St., Monroe, will be held at 3:00 pm with a reception to follow.

(2000) During a vacation to Puerto Vallarta two years ago, Linda Knight was shocked to see the deplorable conditions of families living in the tourist city's dump. She began "Mission in Mexico," which used donations to establish a program to provide food and clean water to more than 75 children and their families. Linda Knight, 51, and her husband Joe, 54, co-pastors at The Rock Church in Monroe, were returning from a humanitarian trip to Puerto Vallarta Monday when their plane crashed off the coast of California. Yesterday, their two children, daughter-in-law and the church's other pastors came together under the large wooden cross in the modest sanctuary to share memories of the Knights with the media. Members of the congregation sat in pews at the back, giving words of encouragement to the family, sniffling and daubing red eyes. The front of the church was decorated with flowers and U.S. flags -- Joe Knight had served in the Vietnam War, Linda Knight was a Sioux Indian, and both were patriotic. Openly weeping, friends and family said they viewed the deaths of the church's founders not as an ending, but as a new start to expand their mission. "These weren't just two passengers on an airplane," said the Knights' 29-year-old son, Jeff, a youth pastor at the church. "These were two people who were affecting the globe." His sister, Jenny Lynn, a 16-year-old student at Monroe High School, said their parents were supportive of youth in the community, always willing to take them in or lend an ear. "Not only have I lost my family . . . but I've lost two of the closest people in my life," she said, breaking into tears. The Knights began their nondenominational church with Bible study classes in their Skykomish home in the early 1980s. As membership grew, they found larger locations, eventually opening the church in Monroe in 1993. There are now approximately 400 adult and youth members. The congregation is diverse, ranging from drug addicts to cowboys. "They're non-church people," said George Parker of the members, another pastor at The Rock Jeff Knight recalled that his parents, who married in January 1968, had some rocky years, but when they dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ more than two decades ago, it turned their lives around. Parker said they opened their doors to people who "were broken . . . hopeless," not unlike the state the Knights were in before they became Christians. The Knights, longtime horse lovers, even reached out to the cowboy community, holding regular Sunday night services at their ranch. "It's very relaxed," said Paul Jerome, a pastor from the Red Rock Cowboy Church, also in Monroe. "(People) sit in the barn on hay and hear the word of God." Accessibility and community outreach were a cornerstone of The Rock Church, making the impact of the Knights' deaths more profoundly felt by the rural community. "People are very shocked," said Parker. "Kids are very angry. They don't understand why did it happen to such a great couple." But Jeff Knight held onto his optimism for the future of the church. When asked what his parents would say if they could see the scene yesterday in the sanctuary, he replied, "Mom would say, 'Hoka hey!'" Church members applauded as Knight explained that the words were the battle cry for Sioux warrior Crazy Horse. The phrase translates, "It is a good day to die." |

In the early 70's we lived in Port Angeles for 3 years and 3 years in Sequim. Since then we have lived in Monroe. 1987 I started a Travel Agency. Retirement? Maybe someday, but not right now. Mike and I golf when ever we get a chance. We don't travel like we use to, now we just golf |

(2008) Vicki L. Cox Vicki was born October 15, 1948 in Everett, WA to Merritt and Terry Wolfkill;
she passed away January 7, 2008 at her home in Burlington with her family by her side.
Vicki graduated from Auburn Academy in 1966. She married Willard Cox in 1967.
In 1973 Will and Vicki moved their family to Burlington where they have resided since.
After raising her family, Vicki opened Vicki’s Travels and Tours in 1990; she sold the
business in 2003 when she became ill with cancer. Vicki is survived by her husband: Will;
children: Will (Yvonne) Cox and Kathy (Rob) Voce; grandchildren: David Cox, James Cox, Ami Cox,
Mia Voce and Michael Voce; her father: Merritt Wolfkill; brother: Ron Wolfkill; numerous nieces,
nephews, cousins and close friends. Vicki was preceded in death by her mother: Terry Wolfkill in
1985 and her brother: Jerry Wolfkill in 2005. A Celebration of Vicki’s life was held Sunday, January 13, 2008, 2:00 pm
at the Skagit Golf and Country Club.
Memorials were made in Vicki’s name to Skagit Hospice, PO Box 1376, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
(2006) We have 2 children: Will Cox, III who is married to Yvonne and has 3 terrific kids.
David 7, James 4, and Amelai 3. Kathy Voce who is married to Robert and has 2 terrific kids - Mia 3 (Ami and Mia were born
4 days apart) and Michael 9 months. Of course my world is my Grandkids. |

Born April 28, 1948. Passed away May 20, 2000. Her mother Verna
and father Henry preceded her in death. Cousins Suzanne Bertram-Pickett and Earl Frederic
Bertram, an aunt Esther, and many loving friends survive her.
Remembrance
Service will be held at Century House, 1711 23rd Avenue South at 2 p.m. Sunday,
September 24, 2000.
